Project description: IFIS produces intermediate-level didactic materials to facilitate communication between hearing people and those with hearing difficulties. Teachers, students and their parents may benefit from this initiative. Programs are developed by specialists to help teachers focus on their work and achieve the desired results. Increasing the competence of all in sign language also contributes to a better integration of people with hearing difficulties. The specialists from IFIS already have clear visions about the structure of their program, including the amounts with regard to the required units, classes, exercises, workbooks, electronic devices, evaluation, etc. They propose to introduce a time of reflection after the program’s initial introduction. Discussions with all participating parties should evaluate the efficiency of the results, so that any necessary modifications may be made. As soon as the program meets all of the desired requirements, courses with 60 lessons for a maximum of 15 students will be offered. Graduates will be required to pass an examination at the end of the course.

Contribution apia: apia contributes towards the cost of salaries and development of the required didactic materials.
